Updated Pictures of Lana

So we've just been learning our way around on Picasa (I highly recommend it!) and are enjoying not only proudly displaying our new baby girl, but also our photography skills. So without further ado, may I present Lana (Week 4)

Outings And Elevators with Lana

JP here -- Sarah and I will take turns at posting stories on this blog as they come up. Most time it will be up to you to decide who is posting such witty commentary. Today is a freebie. As you might imagine, most posts these days will probably be centered around the new addition to our family -- Lana -- and her adventures.

Among those first adventures have been outings to Eastern Market, Outback Steakhouse, the DOT Farmers Market, and Pentagon City.

Sarah and I were long determined as parents that we would continue to get out of the house and enjoy our outings (and usual slew of chain restaurants) with Lana. She has been a very adaptable baby so far and has seemed to thoroughly enjoy every venue (if sleep = enjoyment for babies which I believe it does).

I'm also fascinated by the unavoidable shifts and changes you have to go through when you have a baby. Simple things like always looking for the ramp in the sidewalk so you can successfully navigate your stroller, worrying about dramatic shifts in temperature, and this week's favorite - elevators.

Sarah and I both consider ourselves efficient people and hate waiting, especially when it's unnecessary. Imagine our chagrin at the Mall when we discovered we could no longer simply hop on the escalators between the floors but would now have to wait for the one elevator in the Mall to take us between floors and stores. Dreading the long wait, we pushed the call button and waited. Being the superb husband and father than I am, I volunteered to go move the car while Sarah waited for the elevator. Meanwhile, once the elevator doors opened, Sarah learned just how much life had changed. She got on the elevator with two other strollers and moms and proceeded to exchange the usual vital statistics (weight, height, and DOB) but then was given numerous tips on the best places to shop, rest, and eat with kids.

Who knew one of the most avoided places for us could also be one where you could learn the most? I have a feeling a lot of the journey ahead might be like this.

Lana Elizabeth Price has arrived!

For those of you not on Facebook, here's our birth announcement!

Lana Elizabeth Price was born on August 22nd at 7:03pm after only 12 hours of labor (induced, nonetheless!). Mom, Dad and baby did great and went home on August 24th.

Here's a few pics:

Unfortunately, Lana had a high bilirubin count at her first doctor's visit, so she had to be hospitalized for 2 days! She spent her first week birthday in the hospital under the "bili-lights" with her cool shades. Here's a picture of the exact moment she turned one week!

All is well now and we're looking forward to settling in on a daily routine. Babu and Nana Vanderhoof have been staying with us and will leave on Wednesday...then we're on our own! Keep us in your prayers!
